Snapshot: Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom

July 29th, 2010 by digital photography

This photography video is mainly about the Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom (and how to fit it into your bag properly), but it also mentions two other invaluable accessories for your camera bag. The first is a generic wireless remote control; it’s inexpensive and ideal for those cameras which have no infra red receiver and horrifically expensive original wireless accessories. Yong Nuo WRSII on Amazon: – www.amazon.co.uk The second is the Hama LensPen, which is absolutely fantastic at cleaning lenses, filters, LCD screens, and so on: – www.amazon.co.uk The Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom itself is ideal for those awkward situations where a full tripod is just not going to work. It is strong, reliable, and can be connected directly to the camera or support a tripod head: – www.amazon.co.uk For anyone looking for a camera bag, I can recommend the Lowepro Slingshot 200. It has a cross-chest strap design so you can swing it from your back to your front in seconds, and access your camera directly through the unique side-access zip: – www.amazon.co.uk

Canon Powershot SD800 IS Digital Camera

July 24th, 2010 by digital photography

Visit tiger.tv for the Digital ELPH that’s raising the bar. The Canon Powershot SD800 IS has a 7.1 megapixel CCD to render images in magnificent detail and a DIGIC III Image Processor for stellar quality and fast operation. Yet what sets the SD800 IS Digital ELPH apart is its Wide-angle 3.8x optical zoom with Image Stabilizer technology for rock steady zooms. Canon based the optical image stabilization system on advancements made in the development of the company’s EF and video lenses, and then scaled it down to fit the diminutive Digital ELPH camera profile. Canon’s lens shift-type stabilization system preserves maximum optical quality while providing up to three stops of shake correction in shutter speed equivalent. An optical 3.8x wide range zoom lens (28-105mm equivalent), which employs Canon’s UA lens technology that permits a longer zoom capability in a smaller amount of space.
