Art teacher Michael Dano of Sulphur High School talks about his students’ art work. In this 21st century classroom, students use digital photography, Promethean boards, moviemaker, and Photoshop for their projects.
Graduating artists Heike Qualitz, George Emerson and Tracy Pateman, along with the Head of School Gordon Bull discuss the ANU School of Art Graduate Exhibition 2009. This years ANU School of Art Graduate Exhibition features the works of students completing their studies in Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours, Bachelor of Visual Arts, Bachelor of Digital Arts and the Diploma of Art. The exhibition runs from December 5 – 13, 2009. Students have majored in wood, textiles, sculpture, printmedia and drawing, photography and media arts, painting, gold and silversmithing, glass and ceramics. Visitors to the School will witness the talent of its emerging artists and experience the quality and diversity of art and craft education offered by the School, from fine furniture making to installation, digital imagery to ceramic objects. The works are displayed in the School of Art Gallery, Foyer Gallery, Photospace and in Workshop spaces throughout the School.
If you are new to the excitement of creating art, many of these quick intense workshops are a fun way to focus on exploring new media and techniques. For students planning to apply to an art school, this is an opportunity to acquire work in a variety of media that is suitable for use in portfolio presentations.
