Rising Student asked: I’m looking for a compact, relatively good-looking digital camera. I want one that takes pictures fast (has a fast shutter speed), takes good quality pictures, and at least some manual settings. I would use it mostly for my own entertainment (nothing professional) but do want to be able to manually adjust things, as I am interested in photography. I also do a lot of traveling, so something compact and sturdy is important. Long battery life and viewfinder are preferred, but not absolutely necessary!

SantaCruz2u asked: What is a better picture for getting more detail from tracing a picture from a digital camera on my light table. A black and white photograph or a colored one? I am going to print them out then draw them both free hand and tracing. It depends on the subject matter. What type of picture will trace better and show more detail ? I learned black and white photos make people look better but I never taken photography. So I am learning.

Chicken1 asked: I have a Nikon D40 digital camera and bought a wide angle lens. I don’t know a lot about photography, I had to use this kind of camera for a job. My photos are supposed to be set for the widest angle for the lens (24mm). Is there a way to set this up using my camera menu? Help! Thanks.

Shay asked: I am interested in photography and I have noticed that our local junior college offers some continuing education courses, but I wanted to know a little bit more before I get involved.
When I see photographers on tv they have a camera with a long lense and a set-up that looks expensive. I am assuming that like all hobbies you can end up spending a lot of money on equipment. I am currious to how much a good camera would cost.
Also, what about processing photos? Is it cheaper to process your own or have them processed? I would think with film and processing this could get expensive.
And what about digital photography? Can you get the same quality from a digital camera? I have a digital camera now and I really enjoy editing photos and adding special affects. I could just imagine what I could do with a wedding photo with frosted edges….editing is my favorite!
It would be a lot of fun to photograph events, but I also enjoy nature photos.
I would appriciate any advise! Thanks
Jessie
